Object Drop Detector – DCOS

Insametal manufactures, supplies and installs Object Drop Detectors (DCOS) for overpasses, viaducts and bridges, where vehicles and people transit.
The installation of the fencing is created as a safety measure to prevent the pedestrian falls or accidents, as well as vehicles protection. Here, the major function of DCOS is to detect objects that are thrown into train tracks. The detector is the upper barrier of this fencing and sends a warning signal to competent authorities.
These metal fencings aim to be tough and can bear long time duration. This fencing is composed of expanded metal and Pegaso’s sheet type. The fencing reaches a height of 250cm and a height of between 180cm and 200cm. The measures can be adapted to the necessities of each project.
They are exist three types of treatments:

Hot Galvanized according to UNE in ISO 1461:

The regulation defines the hot galvanized as the formation or zinc coating in steel. Steel is submerged in a 450º molten zinc bath that causes that zinc be stuck on steel surface.

The primary aim of this procedure consists in prevent the steel rusting and corrosion that could be caused by moisture and environment pollution.

Thermo-lacquer according to UNE in 15773:

It is a process that applies a powder covering in thin layers to metal prepared to be placed into an oven and bakes it.

The architectural quality of polyester powder allows giving the better characteristics for a clean process of powdering and provides to good tough with a better aesthetical.

Duplex System (Hot Galvanized + Thermo-lacquer according to UNE in 15773):

We apply both procedures sequentially. Hot galvanized and thermo-lacquer. It is based on apply polyester powder to galvanized surfaces when is required a better result in corrosion proofing or when seeking a better aesthetical.

The Insametal DCOS is connected with the Vandal-proof fence. These fencings increase more safety and can prevent vandal actions. For this reason, these fencings can count on different protection modules.

Here, the fencing is composed of the following characteristics:

  • Frame–Platen: 50×5 millimetres and angle 50×5 millimetres
  • Expanded metal placed in upper part of the structure
  • Pole of 80x60x5 millimetres
  • Double frame with platen of 50×5 millimetres
  • Pegaso’s steel sheet placed in lower part

Tubular poles can be anchored on the cornice with metal anchors or can be attached to the plate by welding on the cornice.
