Catenary Protection

The installation of these elements is created as a safety measure to prevent falls or accidents of the pedestrian, in order to guarantee the protection of railways. Here, thanks to this product, this kind of visor protects the catenary and prevents that somebody from having an accident with the electric wires present in the railway.

 

These metallic elements are designed with the purpose of increase the durability of the catenary that is located in the structure on the overpass where they are installed. This enclosure is composed of expanded metal and folded sheets.

 

This type of visor reaches a height of 250cm and a width of between 180cm and 200cm. The dimensions can be adapted to the needs of each project.

They are exist three types of treatments:

Hot Galvanized according to UNE in ISO 1461:

The regulation defines the hot galvanized as the formation or zinc coating in steel. Steel is submerged in a 450º molten zinc bath that causes that zinc be stuck on steel surface.

The primary aim of this procedure consists in prevent the steel rusting and corrosion that could be caused by moisture and environment pollution.

Thermo-lacquer according to UNE in 15773:

It is a process that applies a powder covering in thin layers to metal prepared to be placed into an oven and bakes it.

The architectural quality of polyester powder allows giving the better characteristics for a clean process of powdering and provides to good tough with a better aesthetical.

Duplex System (Hot Galvanized + Thermo-lacquer according to UNE in 15773):

We apply both procedures sequentially. Hot galvanized and thermo-lacquer. It is based on apply polyester powder to galvanized surfaces when is required a better result in corrosion proofing or when seeking a better aesthetical.

The INSAMETAL catenary protector is next to the vandal-proof fence installed in the overpass and it is agreed to ADIF’s latest normative.

These fences increase the road safety, preventing likely acts of vandalism. To do this, vandal-proof fences can have different protection modules.

Here, the fence has the following characteristics:

• Frame–plate 50×5 mm and angle 50×5 mm
• Expanded metal is placed on the upper side of the fence
• Post 80x60x5mm
• Double frame with plate 50×5 mm
• Sticky type sheet placed on the bottom
• Catenary protection composed of fiberglass

Tubular poles can be anchored on the cornice by metal anchors or can be attached to the plate by welding on the cornice.
