ADIF Pedestrian Guardrail

Pedestrian guardrails are a safety element that makes easy the correct displacement of pedestrians. The railings have a constant height. The ADIF railing guarantees the safety for pedestrians in bridges, viaducts or junctions in railway infrastructures. The railing provides for an important safety function in free pedestrian movement. It reduces vandal attempts in railway infrastructures.

These pedestrian guardrails must be designed, manufactured and assembled by ADIF regulations. This type of railing is tough and normally is composed by three metal pipes and one upper pipe with a larger dimension that is used as banister to accomplish a better protection.

They are exist three types of treatments:

Hot Galvanized according to UNE in ISO 1461:

The regulation defines the hot galvanized as the formation or zinc coating in steel. Steel is submerged in a 450º molten zinc bath that causes that zinc be stuck on steel surface.

The primary aim of this procedure consists in prevent the steel rusting and corrosion that could be caused by moisture and environment pollution.

Thermo-lacquer according to UNE in 15773:

It is a process that applies a powder covering in thin layers to metal prepared to be placed into an oven and bakes it.

The architectural quality of polyester powder allows giving the better characteristics for a clean process of powdering and provides to good tough with a better aesthetical.

Duplex System (Hot Galvanized + Thermo-lacquer according to UNE in 15773):

We apply both procedures sequentially. Hot galvanized and thermo-lacquer. It is based on apply polyester powder to galvanized surfaces when is required a better result in corrosion proofing or when seeking a better aesthetical.

 

The function of these pedestrian guardrails is guaranteeing the safety of pedestrians in bridges, viaducts or pass-through locations. Pipes and profiles are composed of carbon steel. Railings could be lighter or heavier depending on the safety that client has required.

The railing is anchored by an anchor plate that leaves the structure fixed to the concrete floor. The anchor plate is affixed through mechanical bolts.
